Dear Friends,

Once again, I am delighted to tell you about the three concerts that we offer you this season. But first, I wish to share a special announcement.

After 33 years of producing three to six or more concerts a season (totaling 169!), the time seems right to make space for some things that I have put aside to do this. Therefore, I have decided to step down as Artistic Director of the Karen Schuessler Singers at the end of the 2025-2026 season.

So for this final season, we will present three concerts that are close to my heart.

In November, we bring you the magnificent music of the Baroque era. We will explore what makes Baroque music stand apart, and why we turn to it again and again to support our most important and profound moments. Not only will you hear the greatest music of Bach and Handel, but also music that led up to their culminating excellence.

Then, in March, we will spend a rich evening celebrating Canada, our home and native land. The sovereignty of our beloved nation is fully on our hearts and minds. So we will sing, honouring Canada’s strength and diversity—and celebrate this unique country we call home.

Lastly, we end our final season with the work that started it all, Missa Gaia / Earth Mass. This stiking work brings the whole planet together as a unified whole, rejoicing in its life through world rhythms and styles. KSS was formed in order to perform this extraordinary work, and the rest has been an exciting journey of discovery through choral song.

I wish also to thank you for always been at our centre through our mission statement, “Enriching lives through choral excellence and community engagement”, inspiring us to create concerts that “lift spirits, lighten hearts, and deepen souls” (KSS core purpose).

So please come join us for our exciting final season! As always, there is something for everyone!

See you at the concerts!

Karen
