The Karen Schuessler Singers wrap up their 32^nd season with “YOUR SONG: Hits of the 70s, 80s, & 90s”

London, ON – Join the KAREN SCHUESSLER SINGERS as they pay tribute to an era of brilliant song-writing with YOUR SONG: Hits of the 70s, 80s, and 90s on Saturday, May 3 at Wesley-Knox United Church, 91 Askin Street, at 7:30 p.m.

It was an era of brilliant and inspiring song-writing.

In YOUR SONG: Hits of the 70s, 80s, and 90s, we pay tribute to an incredible three decades of popular music. Elton John, Billy Joel, Leonard Cohen, Gordon Lightfoot, Joni Mitchell, and so many others.

“The songs written during this era are amazing songs. They are classics. People will be singing many of these songs a hundred years from now—they never go out of style,” says conductor Karen Schuessler.

Joining the choir will be well-known London vocalist, Jean Meilleur. Jean has been a featured vocalist with Jeans ’n Classics for many years, performing with North American orchestras from coast to coast. He has sung these songs many times all across the continent.

Accompanying Jean and the choir with their own formidible creativity will be first-rate London musicians Steve Holowitz, piano; Aaron Macdonald, sax; Mitch Tyler, bass; and Jeff Christmas, percussion.

“When I think about the combination of Jean’s superb vocal skills, these incredible band musicians, and our fantastic, high-energy choir all performing together some of the greatest pop music on the planet, it just blows me away! It’s going to be an amazing concert,” says Schuessler.

The music the choir and Jean will perform will include “Big Yellow Taxi” (Joni Mitchell), “Mr. Blue Sky” (Electric Light Orchestra), “Pussy Willows, Cat-tails” (Gordon Lightfoot), “Mother and Child Reunion” (Paul Simon), “Hallelujah” (Leonard Cohen), “Scenes from an Italian Restaurant” (Billy Joel), “Taking Care of Business” (Bachman Turner Overdrive), and many more.

Tickets are $25 for adults, and $10 for students. Children 6-13 are free when accompanied by an adult.

The Karen Schuessler Singers is one of London’s premier concert choirs. Celebrating 30 years of great music, it was founded in 1993 by director Karen Schuessler to explore the wealth of choral music.
